pros – slim , light weight, good battery life, re routes quickly.
cons – mine does not announce the name of the streets.
I got the 255w nuvi for my boyfriend as a birthday gift before we went to Hawaii. When we turned it on in Hawaii, I think it was confused…turned it off in GA, turned it on in HI. It took a minute or so until it found a satellite, but after that we were good to go. Found our way around with no problems using the gps. Now we take it with us on all our road trips, even if we know exactly how to get where were going.
Gave this to my wife and she has thanked me every day for a week!!!
I already own one and purchased two more for gifts this year I liked it so much. I have used other brands, none compare to this one. This model seems to have the best bang for buck to me.
I was always hesitant to purchase a GPS, however I finally decided to get one, I did a lot of research before deciding on the Garmin 255W model. I used it on a trip to Mississippi and was very pleased with my choice, the directions were excellent and found my way to every one of my destinations without any problems. I used it in LA and I did not have any problem getting around. Only once I was looking for a Gas station and it told me that it was on the left side of the road, when in fact the station was on the right. I actually purchased two more units for my daughters (I bought the 285W model for them for the bluetooth feature) as christmas gifts.
I returned the Tom Tom (was not accurate) for this Garmin model. The Garmin is accurate 99% of the time, and it is the most important thing to consider when buying a GPS, in my opinion. This model does not have lane guidance so that was my only disappointment. Otherewise, it is easy to use, map update was simple to install, and it was free.
I had an older Garmin that worked ok, but this model is the best ever, all the necessary bells and whistle you really need, you will never get lost again
Very pleased with this nuvi. Wished it had came with a sleave or something to carry it in.
Not bad over all, I got one for Xmas this year. Having a pizza delivery job as my 2nd job, I found some things rather lacking though. The 255w and from what I have researched, all Garmin models, do not show all street names as you are approaching them. As a delivery guy, this is a game breaker for me. The voice is annoying as heck too, no personality. Due to the lack of showing approaching street names, I will be seeking to get rid of this and get a TomTom as soon as possible.
Like the product, however it was availble at several sources the nexy day for $40.00 less.
Garmin is good to have with me. Names the streets. easy to read.
good battery life. If you need a USB connection you can just use the one
that goes with your camera. However, I think it should be
included.
